Guest guest
sounds like you might have an ear infection. if you go to the doctor they usually give you drops that clear it up but also numb the pain. they gave the same thing to viola when she had swimmer's ear. hope you get better too. i am feeling a bit better but i think i will lay low exercise wise. if i feel i must do something i always have plenty of denise austin on hand. kassiaFestival City Concrete <pvisser@...> wrote: awwww, so sorry kassia !!! just pick one day next week and know that you will definitely feel better by then. that might help you to see it through. at least you got rid of the dh for a few days and wont have to wait on him hand-and-foot.personally im having some sort of issue with my ear... ive never had an ear infection so i dont know what it feels like or if this is one, but my jaw hurts like heck when i open my mouth or eat and the area underneath my earlobe and into my neck hurts. my ear feels funny, sort of stuffy i guess, i cant really describe it. i also feel tired. ::sigh:: oh well, just another pesky pain to add to the sore back and ankle. it feels like this old bod is falling apart :*carolyn. Guest guest
Carolyn, Ear infections often require antibiotics to clear up. I think they can also lead to hearing loss in severe, untreated cases. Please consider seeing a doctor for proper treatment! I hope you'll feel better really fast, no matter what you choose to do! Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well Carolyn. Maybe you should see the Dr. You don't want any lasting effects from this. Donna, didn't you have a bad ear infection not too long ago? Guest guest
I'm far from a doctor, but it sounds like some sort of infection is going on. The pain in your jaw is probably referred pain from your ear... It could be a sinus infection or something going on with a lymph gland around your jaw or a salivary gland or your eustachian tube that connects your inner ear to your throat. (that's the part that gets blocked and " pops " when you increase your altitude suddenly in a plane or car.) The jaw/ear area is packed with busy stuff in close proximity and pain in one place can spread out to unrelated structures. When I get a sinus infection, fer instance, my upper jaw teeth on the affected side ache. Even went to the dentist because of it once... I'd think if it were a sinus infection, though, you'd have a stuffy nose, some facial pain and drainage of really nasty, gunky stuff from your nose or down your throat. If you don't, then it's down to the ear or some gland near your jaw. Do you have any dizziness? Any decrease in hearing on that side? Then it's most likely an ear. If you're not having stabbing pains in your ear, though, I'm betting it's an eustachian tube blockage... ear infections usually feel like someone's trying to ram a knitting needle through your eardrum at intervals. A blocked eustachian tube makes you feel like you need to make your ears pop, but you can't. There's a feeling of uncomfortable pressure against your eardrum on the effected side, but no sharp, intermittant pain usually. If there's a lump or a hot spot around the hinge of your jaw or down near the big tendons in your neck, then it could be a lymph gland. A sore lump around your cheek or in front of your ear may be a salivary gland. All this is armchair medicine, though, and you definitely need to see your doctor asap. Infections aren't good things anywhere, and ear infections can definitely ruin your hearing. My eardrum ruptured in childhood from one, and I still have a hearing loss on that side. I hope you feel MUCH better very soon! Guest guest
hi tess!! thankyou thankyou thankyou! i know that noone here is a dr (at least i dont think so!) but i really appreciate your advice. comments to follow.... Lethe Loupe wrote: > I'd think if it were a sinus infection, though, you'd have a stuffy > nose, some facial pain and drainage of really nasty, gunky stuff from > your nose or down your throat. no dont have any of that. also i have not had a cold recently. >If you don't, then it's down to the > ear or some gland near your jaw. Do you have any dizziness? not that i have noticed, although now i will be watching for it especially. i havent worked out much this week though, that is where i would really see it, i think. >Any > decrease in hearing on that side? Then it's most likely an ear. it feels kind of muffled... i can still hear but it is like there is a vague sensation of pressure in the ear. it is the pain in the jaw that had originally drawn my attention. > If > you're not having stabbing pains in your ear, though, I'm betting it's > an eustachian tube blockage... ear infections usually feel like > someone's trying to ram a knitting needle through your eardrum at > intervals. no stabbing knitting needle pains in the ear, however yesterday i had the urge to ram a knitting needle in there myself and twist it around... (except i was thinking more of a sharp pencil...lol) >A blocked eustachian tube makes you feel like you need to > make your ears pop, but you can't.
