It is Boswellia Thurifera (one step up from the carterii, normally the variety found from " bulk " suppliers, even most retailers). This frankincense has a wonderful lemon-y fragrance that is in contradistinction to the astringencey of other affordable frankincenses. I haven't tried this in soap yet, but I aim to very shortly. It is available at www.essencesupply.com > > Sincerely, > Mike Nolley Hi Mike, Wow -- it's been a while! Thank you for sharing this with us. I'm always on the lookout for good frankincense. I have many, and am always seeking that special one that " goes to eleven " . Cheers! Andrine

It's B. carterii. Hi Anya, I got some from them too. I really like it! And I finally solved my burning question about my " holy grail of frankincense " (in our archives). I finally figured out that the frankincense that I was swooning over (from the local health foods cooperative) for was actually composed of frankincense and labdanum. Which makes me so happy because I loved it so much, and now can make it myself. Whee! Cheers! Andrine
