Guest guest
Hi Helen Poor little man, sounds horrible, best get to.the GP about the bala, whatever its called... For the oxypowder maintenance dose I am finding that 1 capsule per eveing is working good but I have also introduced Magnesium Citrate with every meal, I use about one capsule of that per day (170mg, Thorne brand). We have also been using very high doses of laxatives for years and I want to reduce that so when we were clearing out with the oxypowder I too was up to 5 capsules but also on 10ml lactulose twice daily and 10 ml senna oince per day. I am down to 5 ml lactulose twice a day and just under the 10 ml senna. Its a juggle and I am monitoring it very carefully. Is it possible he is impacted again?? Is his tummy hard, you see we are having goo stuff going on just now and s tummy is soft, first time in ages... the other thing I should have said is that we use 2 capsules of Vitamin C a aday, not sure brand I can check if you want... I really think that for us it was essentail to increase Magnesium dramatically, theresso many factors like are you chelating just now if so is it possible Mg is being depleted. Why not get some antibiotics and get the balinitsis??? spelling! checked out, blast with probiotics whilst doing this and then maybe split your dose of oxypowder, I feel that the main problem might be that he is still impacted or impacted agin, not fun sorry. Lotsa luck and let us know how you get on. Lotsa love Caroline, Aberdeenshire xx

Guest guest
Thanks Mandi and Caroline for your replies Have been putting off the antibiotics for obvious reasons but feel I should get him checked over by GP. Have been battling with gut bugs for ages now and it seemed that finally in last 2 weeks we had things under control. Hate the thought of antibiotics upsetting balance of things but just can't see him like this. Re oxypowder... Now on Biocare magnesium 2 caps a day and Mag EAP2 twice day and Vit C , 3 scoops a day (3g) . We are not chelating yet. Should be getting an x ray soon so will be able to see if loaded again. He wasn't impacted previously . Thanks for your help guys. Really appreciated. Helen >. > Hi Helen > Poor little man, sounds horrible, best get to.the GP about the bala, whatever > its called... Really appreciated Helen Good Luck with the oxypowder, there was another couple of things that I meant to say to you which I think were significant for us. 1) I worked up very slowly with the oxypowder so I knew what was a really good working dose. I had to stay on one capsule about a week actually because it was the last week of term and I wanted her to be in her school show 2 nights and have church on the final day (30 June) this is just to show you how slow we were coming down again... During the first week we had a very strange coil of pooh, sorry cant describe it any other way, it was soft and disoolving around the edges but you could clearly see the coiling, about a fist size, weird have never seen anything like it. I think this was something that had been stuck or inside for a long time. I worked up one cap a night and saw lots of liquid but did not get any real black stuff which I do not believe is necessary. I have had impacted so many times that I dont think colur for us is significant more the softnessof her tummy and her general mood I can judge by. Five caps were vicious, remember we were still using the normal laxatives that she uses, lactulose and senna... s bum was very red and sore and I dropped to 4 and kept her on this high dose for 7 nights then I reduced by one cap per night but slowly increased the Magnesium. Why I am telling you all this is because she only started having proper movements last week so thats been one month we have been juggling and I feel that its OK for now. I have also been looking really closely at her diet again and really we had given the Low Oxalate Diet a really good strict trialfor over 6 months and we still have periods of frequent urination I think she is better to have a better range of foods and more fruit and we are having good results with this, for now, never like to tempt fate... 2) the second thing was whilst doing the oxypowder I really blasted her with probiotics. We use Pro bioGold, Sacc boulardii, CP1, Procuture Gold and now Culturelle again. I think people are afraid of probiotics, die off etc and rightle so, they are strong products but jeez... not as strong as our kids bowels, I mean if a 3 year old can resist moving their bowels on Movicol and 5 capsules of Oxypowder thats something... When we started out on this at the Royal Free (many years ago!!) was still impacted after having PICOLAX, used for adults with bowel surgery, ask Mandi she sure knows about this stuffits horrific!!. had Picolax every weekend, for around 3 months and she was still impacted... So what I am saying is up the probiotics, you have nothing to lose, your kids not feeling the best anyway with all the oxypowder and my reasoning was that this just might do some good, so we doubled and tripled the dose (3 each of Sacc b and Pro bio Gold). Now thats not for everybody but I reckon that yes you will have some wash out from the effects of the oxypowder, but not all probiotics will get washed out. bacteria are adhesive and exist in biofilms which are difficult to get into and covered in protective polymers so they are pretty hardy. I dont know if this helps any but this is a good product but I think looking at the other things we do is worthwhile too. maybe your kid could benefit from a spell on SCD, many find that, maybe the probs are all coming from your bacterial or fungal overgrowth that you are dealing with right now, its so hard to know. have you tried colloidal silver Helen? Another great product and worth a go with if you are having problems with overgrowth, we are using this week on week off at the moment on Dr Usmans advice and it always stirs things up but doing good on it too. Need to go I am so waffling but it will get better... Another thought I had some forms of magnesium are better absorbed than others you could experiment with thet too. I currently use Magnesium water Oz, Magnesium malate, Magnesium citrate capsules and in our multi mineral (Minerall) there is also Magnesium Citrate. HTH and good luck Caroline xxx
