Hi Bb

I am on a roll tonight LOL

I can't believe all the different leaf scent differentiations there are in

geraniums ... I have a lovely one .which has died down for the winter... I hope

I have managed to save it...I brought it in but I am not sure if I am too

late... a Blorinda variety and the perfume on the leaf is fabulous.... I cut

back the dried out leaves now and will keep as part of my growing dried raw

material.... I hope it grows again next year as I really would like to tincture

and try distilling it...I also plan to get a distillation unit at some point...

for which I cannot decide on a type yet .... but I know not too big..

Every good wish, Janita

Hurray! you know Rose Geranium I think of as an English Geranium because they

make the scent, soaps etc. I 've seen Caswell Massey carry it but it is an old

traditional Geranium and the leaves are a different shape from the lemon one. I

have wanted to do this for a long time too.

It is hard to find but an old standard product, like Devon Violets. Oh Parma

bless us please for the New Year.

First it seemed the rose Geranium has more scent in the leaves when dry which I

used to use in potpurri. With a little sleuthing yourself being across the pond

you may well discover how to and when to pluck the gourgeous fragrance. It is

advertised here in CA as a mosquito deterrant to plant in your garden. Magic

Gardens has nutmeg, lemon, etc. for sale.

I have great faith in your abilities. Ah sure lass we could all be firing up

the stills before May first if we get this one down. Thanks for your interest.

Happy Winter Solstice

Hi Bb

Firstly, appreciate your faith..... that gives me encouragement to go and

pioneer LOL.... yes we do have many old varieties here in the UK... climate good

for them ...the variety I see in eo is especially the bourban variety is the

pelargonium graveolens Heritier..... I love its smell not so sickly as the

others and blends beautifully with lavender and rose.... I can recall sitting

outside my stepsisters ranch house in california many years ago and watching

the butterflies flitting all over a huge geranium hedge!!! I wonder what

variety is that as we cannot get them to grow to that size over here.

Heres to a productive aromatic 2008 *:-D Thank you for posting ...lovely

thread. If anyone else has something they would like to chime in on .....love

to hear it...

Every good wish, Janita
