Guest guest
My son is 18 and he has had trouble with his ankles for years, several brakes and sprains when he was younger. Very active. Baseball, soccer etc. It got to the point he refused to tell me when his ankles would still hurt so I would not take him in to the dr. Now, the ortho. at first thought he had tarsal coalition from the severity of the way they looked especially the right one. The MRI said no. Just severe edema. The ortho and the radiologist both say they have never seen such a severe case of edema in ankles. My son goes to work in a store, stands on his feet all day. Complains of pain at home. The dr. said he needs to be in a non-walking cast 1 ankle at a time for 4 wks to get the swelling down. If he doesn't do something soon he will be disabled by the time he is 30. He is stubborn and 18 (invinsible) He has finally agreed to get the cast on 1 ankle, miss work for a month. He does not get paid so I had to bribe hiim. Has anyone heard of this type of edema before?
