Guest guest
I have to wonder, I have to ask... Was there ever a time when YOU had difficulty talking or moving? Today, my daughter Sophie (dx'ed as moderately Autistic) looked at me and said " I didn't say much at my birthday, Sophie didn't say much " I said " How come? How come Sophie didn't say much? " She got a very blank look and said " I couldn't talk, I couldn't talk " It was like watching someone slowly " wake up " . And now, as a mother who just wants to understand, I'm asking this to the Aspies and HFA folks: Did you ever have trouble speaking? Could you understand what people were saying? We're you " trapped " ? Did solitude bother you or was it welcomed? How do YOU view perseverations? Are they a comfort method or a real interest? Could you control your body? Does it ever get better? If you could have had your parents/teachers do something different when you were growing up, what would it have been? I have read Temple Grandin, and she gives me an insight. But it's not the same. Thanks to anyone who can help. - Stoecker Stoecker@...
