Guest guest
-Hi Steph, Wow! Tom sounds like he's making great progress, but I did feel for his suffering with tummy ache. You've probably tried these things, but Katy has found warm Calmomile and Peppermint teas very soothing,Also chicken broth and warm hot water bottles. Hope he's feeling better soon ! Guest guest
Hi Steph we have had a bit of exploding diarhhea and have been advised to get methycellulose. His poos are always mushy and he doesn't clear his bowels. The above is fibre which will bulk it out helping Charlie to go and his stretched rectum to start to shrink - that's the idea. The trouble is I am still trying to find methyl.. which is suitable and haven't found it yet. Good luck Peta- -- In Autism Treatment , " Sharon " <bill.molineux@...> wrote: > > -Hi Steph, > > Wow! Guest guest
Hi Steph, this is great news, obviously his constipation was causeing him alot of problems. IMO a month is a long time to have explosive diarrohea such as you have described, if things are moving thro too fast he may not be getting the nutrients he needs. Maybe it is time to reduce (or stop) the movicol and see what happens? Also his insides will be quite irritated by the movicol so i'm not so sure about giving him too much strong roughage at the mo, such as granary bread and nuts this may irrate more than it is helping IMHO, perhaps stick to the fruit and veg more? Do you think he has cleared all of the impaction yet? from your post i suspect you think not? On the sore spot that he wants you to touch, have you tried feeling to see if it is firmer there? Maybe an impaction still if it is. You could try fingertip massage there, if he will let you, to break it up and move it along. You are doing a great job, i would love to hear Kylie songs coming from my ds, one day maybe....... Hth, Nikki ps i invested in a good steam cleaner for carpets and sofas, they are really good at getting rid of the smell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > Poor Tom still not cleared but getting better and lots more language. > Almost all of it echolalia but at least he's forming words and saying > them confidently. Guest guest
It's definitely firmer where he wants to touch BUT it comes and goes, like pressure building up rather than like a blockage. Or maybe it's actually both, he has a lovely flat tummy (not inherited from me) yet it's still big loaded bowel. Just played football with me - lovely. He still needs to absolutely crouch to get the poo out - really scrunched up. SItting on the loo doesn't do it any more. Eek. > > > > Poor Tom still not cleared but getting better and lots more > language. > > Almost all of it echolalia but at least he's forming words and > saying > > them confidently. Guest guest
He's just voluntarily added bananas to his diet - got one from the cupboard and peeled it. Also trying to spread his own peanut butter etc. Good stuff. We have the carpet cleaner! Good grief, the poo, the heat and the velocity. Not a match made in heaven nor anywhere near it. > > > > Poor Tom still not cleared but getting better and lots more > language. > > Almost all of it echolalia but at least he's forming words and > saying > > them confidently. Guest guest
Great idea Sharon, Tom is a big fan of fruit tea! Not sure he'd go for broth but mint and chamomile a real possiblity Steph x In the dark distant past we arranged to try and meet for coffee. SO much time has elapsed I no longer drink coffee. If we leave it too long I'll be on pureed food! Drop me an email! > > > > Poor Tom still not cleared but getting better and lots more > language. > > Almost all of it echolalia but at least he's forming words and > saying > > them confidently. Guest guest
Hi Steph, Is the place that we're talking about, where the colon turns on the left side, at just below navel height, to go down the side to the rectum? If it is this is a common spot for blockages, i believe the turn narrows the colon causing problems with stuff getting thro. Try some gentle massage there, using finger tips to gentle push the stuff in the direction that it should be going. Do this as often as you can throughout the day to see if it helps. You may be surprised what you can do from the outside :+) Hth, Nikki > It's definitely firmer where he wants to touch BUT it comes and > goes, like pressure building up rather than like a blockage.
