PA, Spiro and racing heart at night

I saw two posts today on here from people who mention issues with a racing heart

at night - one person mentioned racing heart when they turn over in their sleep.

I've been having this issue as well. I wake up most mornings, and sometimes at

night out of a dead sleep, with my pulse racing so fast it's as if a motor is

running inside me. A couple of times I thought we were having an earthquake but

then realized the shaking I felt was coming internally. Often, when I turn over

onto my left side, I'll get the rapid pulse and heartbeat when I'm asleep

(half-asleep, whatever).

I'm on 50 mg of spiro daily, which I have to incresse to 100 in hot weather. I

am also perimenopausal, and I know that a lot of women on the menopause forums

(who do not have PA) talk about having this racing pulse/palpitation/internal

shaking thing going on at night.

Does Dr Grim or anyone have any thoughts on this -- is this a symptom of PA, a

side effect of spiro, a sign of inadequate or too much spiro? Or is this simply

a perimenopausal thing related to hormones (estrogen, which I know is invoved in

a delicate balnce with adrenalin)?? I have asked the GYN before, but she looked

at me like I was from another planet. (And I refuse to believe that a GYN has

never encountered another perimenopausal woman asking about it. It's all over

the menopause forums.)

Anyway, thoughts? Em
