Guest guest
Hi Darla. If you want to email me direct I have some info on the diet - what to avoid where to buy etc. Would suggest you buy " Children With Starving brains " book. Its a guide to all the tests / treatments etc. I can send you the link to it. The DAN protocol would look at treating the gut first. That would require a comprehensive stool analysis with parasitology. It looks for good bacteria/ bad bacteria / yeast/ parasites / inflammation / digestion of food etc.. You would treat depending on what you find. Possibly antibiotics / probiotics / antifungals / enzymes . The test is approx £240 An urine organix test would look at bacteria like candida / chlostridia etc.. vitamins and mineral deficiencies. Treat baddies and correct vitamins / minerals. The test is approx £240 After that you can test for amino acids levels. They all do jobs. e.g.Tryptophan affects melatonin (Sleep) and Serotonin (mood) So if you are low...poor sleep / bad mood . Can be corrected with a customised formula or if just one of two low you can supplement those. Cost for this test approx £240 ... Customised formula £75 for 1 month. Then maybe you could try MB12 jabs. Jabs cost approx £38 for 20 shots. It will show on the organix test whether this would help but worth a try for most kids. Would suggest you get vitamin levels sorted first as not enough folinic acid will send your kid hyper and not enough B vits will make them tired. Then you can look at viruses - Herpes , chicken pox , epstein barr virus etc.. You can do this through immunosciences in the USA. Panel isnt cheap. You can do it via the Breakpear its about £700. If viruses show up you can try some antivirals such as Acyclovir or Valtrex if you GP is willing to give it. Then you can look at Chelation ..Oral or transdermal DMSA or Transdermal DMPS to shift heavy metals. (mercury lead etc ) Hope this helps you. Guest guest
Hi Darla, this is a good link for all things diet-related: http://www.autismndi.com/ I also find Specific Carbohydrate Diet links great for receipe ideas etc, even if you are not on that diet it has great 'baked goods' recipe links (chose the ones that are casein/dairy free, as SCD was not originally designed for our kids). If you have time and nerves it is best to bake your own gfcf snacks, this site is great for ideas: http://pecanbread.com/ (once you get into it the baking really does not take that much time!!) to learn more about all biomed aspects, including latest treaments and research: www.danwebcast.com (free registration) - takes time to download and even longer to watch, but invaluable latest info from the top people - Long Beach is from the end of last year, they will have the April conference on soon! I would highly recommend Martha Herbert's and Dr Bock's presentations first if you are new to all this, will make a nice introduction to all the other, more specific DAN! protocols and theories... Best of luck with it all, Natasa > > Hello All, > Been trying to keep up with the posts and WOW - I can only just comprehend > what you lot are discussing! > > Here are some questions that I have - > I started the enzymes and probiotics. Guest guest
What Joanne would mean is MMA (methylmalonate), one of the methylation cofactor markers, which if elevated may indicate if your child needs MB12. My lads MMA was raised and he's responded really well to MB12. Also, if homocysteine is either high or low is another indicator. Diane Re: Pacing Interventions - what next? Guest guest
What reference range is on your results? On mine, it should be less than 4.8, I think. Guest guest
Hi Organix urine test available via your DAN practitioner. Can also be done via IWDL. I think Diane beat me to the answer. Methylmalonate would be high. Under Methylation co-factors number 20. The Ref levels upto 4.8. so if its high indicates need for B12 Copied text from metametrix. Methlymalonate. This compound is converted into succinic acid using a vitamin B12- dependent enzyme, methylmalonyl CoA mutase (Fig 1). The lack of vitamin B12 impairs this conversion as well as the one in which methionine is recovered from homocysteine, leading to accumulation of methylmalonate. As discussed above, high levels indicate a functional deficiency of vitamin B12. A differential diagnosis can be made when considering both methylmalonate and the amino acid, homocysteine. If homocysteine is also elevated, both B12 and folate functional deficiencies are indicated. If only homocysteine is high, folate and B6 supplementation are suggested. If methylmalonate only is elevated, only B12 supplementation is needed [25]. Rocket science ! Guest guest
Have you tried setting your e-mail messages to daily digest? That way, you get all the messages, but condensed into 1 or 2 messages per day. You could also choose no e-mails and read them on the website. Diane Re: Re: Pacing Interventions - what next?
