Guest guest
Hello Dr. Grim & all, It was couple of weeks I was taking my adrenal Scintiscan having Dexamethasone 2mg/d a week before and after injection with NP-59. While I was off Spirnolactone for a month, I was placed on Terazosin and I started with 1mg/d -> 2mg/d -> 3mg/d and had to increase it to 4mg/d to keep my BP<150 for the 2nd week of the Scintiscan. To my amazement I found that my GLUCF (8-hr fasting glucose) dropped to levels never seen before as shown in the following chart: So I decided to analyze which drug reduced my GLUCF. First I thought it might be due to Dexamethasone. But after analysis it appears that Dexamethasone has an increasing effect on my GLUCF. However, from the following Table it appears that Terazosin has had statistically significant lowering effect on my GLUCF (p<0.01) as well as Metformin (p<0.01) while Dexamethasone has increasing effects (p<0.05). I used to be on Metformin since last year so its dose did not change for adrenal Scintigraphy, and in place of Spiro I took Terazosin & increased my Ramipril. But Ramipril does not show any significant effect on my GLUCF while Terazosin does. QUESTIONs: Is it medically acceptable to consider that Terazosin has lowering effect on GLUCF? Amlodipine appears to raise my GLUCF (p<0.05). Is this medically known fact? I appreciate all comments and expert opinions with thanks. Max.
