Guest guest
Jimmy, Bob, I too hyper-extend my knees, but NIH (National Institute of Health) designed me AFOs with hinges. It was designed to allow me to still hyper extend my knees, but to provide more support than the unhinged ones do. Since I hardly have any quadricep muscles left, it is imperative that I hyperextend, otherwise my legs would give way. I am not too sure I like these rigid AFOs, but will give it more time. Would love tohear from others regarding the Helix braces. The orthotists at NIH did not feel they would be good for me because they say in addition to foot drop, I show weakness in all 4 areas of the foot.
