Guest guest
RE: " Expert " poll question. There is always someone smarter but, considering that I studied to be an O.T. and got straight A's in all my courses and that the only reason my B.S. degree ended up being in Health and Wellness instead of O.T. was because I physically couldn't do some things like cutting the splints shows that I have much intelligence in regards to physical disorders and with all my heart I wanted to help others with physical disabilities. In addition, I developed a few homemade devices using things around the house to help my sister dress herself independently after hip surgery, which she used successfully. I have 144 I.Q. and I have had to deal with adapting my ways physically to life with CMT in addition to adapting to the emotional stress caused by intolerance of others who don't have limiting physical disabilities and sometimes by those who do; so, yes, I'd say to some degree I am an expert. Compared to the average person who has never studied disabilities formally in college and got straight A's, who never had to study his own physical disability using various resources and who never had to learn to adapt to CMT, I would have to be considered somewhat of an expert. Let's see; I also have participated in many fund raising events for disabled individuals including the MDAs walk-a-thon, (with much pain), and several bike-a-thons for various organizations who help individuals with illnesses and disabilities.
