Guest guest
I want to thank everyone for the support and GREAT advice regarding my son's teacher. Charlene, I wish you could be cloned!!! My son doesn't have any obvious trigger for these behaviors. He's gone to the library 50+ times with positive outcomes. I'm thinking maybe something, that day bothered him and he just took it out inappropriately (His Mom does this all the time....grin....). I've started tracking his food. I've implemented the Feingold Program eliminating food additives, dyes and preservatives. He's been on it a week now. He's had two great days in school and two aggressive, hyper days. I cannot figure out what triggered these " bad days " . According to the teacher's notes, he comes in hyper that day and it doesn't subside. There is nothing offending to the FG Diet on those mornings that should trigger the hyperactivity. So it's 50%/50% focused & behaved/distractable & hyperactive. Is this behavioral then? Ugh....She probably thinks I'm a fruit loop putting him on this diet and she's waiting to prove to me, via data logs that it doesn't work and my kid is as obnoxious as she says!!! (Isn't it sad that I have to feel that way, this is the 2nd year he has this teacher). Thanks Ann in South Florida

Guest guest
Ann, is it possible your son is not receiving enough motivation to be in school? Is it all work and no play? My NT, 6 year old little girl says she doesn't want to go to first grade because it's no fun. Sometimes our special children need even more motivation than our typical children. You may want to suggest to them to have a liked activity or reinforcer several times a day and monitor his good behavior so that he can be rewarded for good behavior. He needs to know he's being held accountable for his behavior and that good things will follow when he has acceptable compliance. This is not to say that he will always be good, but definitely will motivate him to try alittle harder to have some self-control. A behavior consultant should be brought in to train the teacher on how to introduce this to prevent teachers from inadvertently using this method as a bribe as oppose to a positive reinforcement. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE! Grisel -- In autism , <jerzyannie@...> wrote: > > I want to thank everyone for the support and GREAT advice regarding my son's teacher.
