I ALSO, AM COFFEE ADDICT. EVERYTIME I GET TO RUBY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL I HAVE TO GET A DOUBLE MOCHA CAPPACHINO.YUM YUM .

BUT I LIMIT MY CAFFEINE INTAKE BECAUSE I HAVE FIBROID TUMORS AND MY DR HAS SAID THAT ANYTHING'OVER DONE 'CAN PUT MORE STRAIN ON MY LIVER. I ALSO LOVE MY TEA AND THAT IS MY WINTER DRINK OF CHOICE.

I THINK CAFFEINE DEPENDS ON THE PERSON AND YOU SHOULD DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU / IF IT BOTHERS YOU THAN CUT BACK UNTIL YOU NO LONGER HAVE PROBLEMS.

GOODLUCK,

BRENDA THE WV HILLBILLY

As a CNS stimulant, it can aggravate a state of hyperT, somewhat like

pseudafed. At the other end of the scale, I found it does not

effectively counteract hypoT. It just keeps you awake and interferes

with sleep.

I have not found that it interferes with absorption, so I drink coffee

during the hour after my morning T4 dose.

Once upon a time I drank 14 cups of coffee a day (in my 20's) Over the

years that gradually decreased - especially because the caffiene (and I

also mean the Caffiene in Coke, other drinks, etc) increased my

tremors. When I turned 50, and was detoxing off pain meds from surgery,

I also stopped drinking coffee, Coke, etc., all together. Coffee

especially gave me false bouts of energy that once it wore off, sent me

crashing. Nerve wise, not the best thing to do.

I feel great without coffee or any caffienated products - even

chocolate. My nerves are a whole lot more stable and I don't have " caffiene

highs " then crash, plus my entire emotional outlook is peaceful and stable.

Hi Patty,

When I was about 40, I thought maybe caffiene was starting to cause

some problems. I denied this, but after another year of major daily

tremor surges, extreme hunger, followed by extreme energy and then majo

low energy I knew it was the coffee. At that time I was drinking about

3-4 mugs in the morning. I spent the ensuing years cutting back to 1

mug, and then finally, 4 years ago after my fusion (and no decent

coffee in the hospital!) knowing I would have to detox off pain meds, I

figured I'd detox off coffee too. What helped me the most with the

detox was additional consumption of Fijiwater.

I no longer have those wicked morning tremors, hunger, and up and down

fast energy/fatigue problems. I also do not drink caffienated drinks

like Coke. Taking all the sugar out of my body that was in coffee and

Coke really helped too.

My body just can't handle stimulants. I knew this pretty much when I

was about 15, but it just took some 'life' and getting to know my body

through observation that I finally understood the 'insanity' of the

situation. I don't even miss coffee either.

I thought caffeine dilated blood vessels? My headache medicine is part

caffeine to dilated vessels. My dermatologist tells me not to drink caffeine

because it dilates blood vessels. Now I am confused.
