Acetic acid is vinegar, acetone is an industrial solvent, very different. There is nothing wrong with ingesting vinegar. It's a good thing.>>> I just had a batch come out that smelled of acetone(nail polish remover). After I got my finished product I was putting it in 2 liter Pepsi bottles for a week or two to build up carbonation. Never had any trouble before this, always came out great. When I opened up the bottle it didn't " phsst " as usual. Smelled it and WOW was it strong. What causes this? Is it a reaction with the plastic? Can this be used at all (not to drink, to make new batches) or should it be all poured out? I went ahead and made a new batch with a scoby and some of this (acetone) brew, will it adulterate the new brew? I've been brewing for 6-8 years and this is the first time this has happened.Barb
