Guest guest
Lois, we had Karac on Resperdal and it only stopped his aggression in the beginning. It has been several years since he was on it, and I don't recall if his aggression was related to the time that we gave it to him or not. Guest guest
Lois, I had my guys on Rispedal and like Karac, it only worked in the beginning then the effacy just wasn't there. The guys up at Kennedy Krieger said that this is common. Is your son verbal? My oldest usedc to tell me it hurt his tummy, maybe that is the reason for his increase in agression for the hour? Guest guest
Hi, my son is also on Risperidone and it stabilises his moods considerably but sometimes I have noticed an adverse effect afterwards although I am not sure if this is coincidence. Have you tried just a morning dose and mid-afternoon dose? Sonny is 13 and takes 1mg in morning and 1mg mid afternoon. I used to give it at night instead but found it has more effect if given in the afternoon. Hope you find a solution. Guest guest
's aggression has almost reached the point where it was last year when he started taking Risperdal. (He's also started to have tremors in his hands.) Now I'm wondering if I should talk to his doc about discontinuing the medication instead of discussing an increase in dosage. Guest guest
Jen, that might be a reason. But how do you take them off of it?? I mean, I tried 2 summers ago and J got Mania. Guest guest
, J is getting 0.25 in the morning-then at about 4 the same thing and then the same at bedtime. so it amounts to only about 1mg for the whole day. Yes! That is what it sounds like........For the first hour he has agression then calms down. Guest guest
Kat, That is TD. Also-Going up higher on resperdal usually doesant help. J can only take a low dose of it. Guest guest
Lois, Well Sonny was initially taking 0.25mg twice a day the same as J - but five years passed and it was no longer enough. After much medical persuasion the dosage was upped and he is now much better, less aggressive, etc. I did cut it out altogether for a year and at first things were fine (month or so) but then his mood took a nosedive and even though I persevered things became unbearable. The first time he was using it Sonny's tics became a little worse but (fingers crossed) this time it seems OK. But I would seek advice about the tremor in his hands, just in case. Best Wishes, > > > > Lois, we had Karac on Resperdal and it only stopped his aggression > in the > > beginning. Guest guest
Lois, I just discontinued it knowing that we were probably going to be in for a rough go for about a week. With my youngest one, I substituted a highly preferred activity, like the pool which is also highly sensory, it helped immensely in calming him...
