Sounds like your doc is being very non-respectful of your CMT and you

in general. Any chance of finding a new doc? Or educating this

current one?

I don't know about the medication you mentioned, but it seems to me

the method of delivery is stone age.

Below are two sites with Medication information - there are plenty of

other medications out there that can have effects on our nerves. If

you are not comfortable with your doc and the medication, do not take

it and get another opinion, or ask for alternatives.
