Guest guest
Hello All, What about folks that play wind instruments, are they healthier or do they get more or less respitory problems. Do they oxygenize more...live longer. any thoughts here. mike s. On Mon, 02 Jul 2001 09:03:44 -0500 Wayne Fugitt <wayne@...> writes: > Morning , > > >>inhale immediately after exhaling completely. Guest guest
Hi Wayne, Cool idea! I will have to try it. I haven't, but it did bring up some thoughts. On my breathing lists, I have several listers who have asthma and have really improved their lung capacity with the breathing programs I mentioned before. My own daughter included. I know that she can really blow into her tube that measures her lung capacity much better after doing a breathing workout. BodyFlex aggravated her asthma, but Oxycise helped. Also Life Lift helped. The difference was measurable on her tube that measures her lung capacity. I can't seem to remember the name of that tube thingy right now! I'll have to get a blow gun and see if it helps her. Interesting idea. ~Karma http://loaves-n-fishes.com http://www.karma.awarenesshealth.com Blowgun exercise Morning , >>inhale immediately after exhaling completely. This is very similar to some lung work I did years ago. I used to shoot the blowgun for fun. The flimsy little darts that came with it seem to have very poor ballistic characteristics. So..... I made a set that was much heavier with different material. To get a decent velocity from these heavy darts required super inflation of the lungs and a hard long burst of pressure from a forced exhale. At that time, I was interested only in results on the target. The poor lungs had to suffer as much as the mind could punish them. I feel sure that no damage was done to my lungs. Has anyone else done this or experimented with the blowgun? Wayne
Guest guest
Morning Karma, >I'll have to get a blow gun and see if it helps her. Interesting idea. It is fun and breaks the monotony of other activities. A group could have competition events. When one gets to the point whereas they can shoot a dart that penetrates a 3/4 inch pine board, they don't have the weakest lungs in the world for sure. Keep us posted of the results. Guest guest
Hi again Wayne, My husband will probably know this, but he isn't home right now. Where does a person buy a blowgun? Do you think " Play-It-Again-Sports would have something like that? I was looking for a brick and mortar store before looking on the net for one. Any suggestions? Would it have to be a sporting goods store? I'm in rural Missouri, we have lots of gun shops, but I don't think I remember seeing blowguns. Thanks, ~Karma http://loaves-n-fishes.com http://www.karma.awarenesshealth.com RE: Blowgun exercise Morning Karma, >I'll have to get a blow gun and see if it helps her. Interesting idea. Guest guest
Thanks for the idea! Mom is coming back from death and hates those lung capacity machines. I bet she'd be willing to blow darts...first to the end of the bed, then to the wall. She'll be homeward bound if she hits the wall for sure. Time to start combing the toy stores for those Ping-Pong ball velcro thingies. SaraLou RE: Blowgun exercise Morning Karma, >I'll have to get a blow gun and see if it helps her. Interesting idea. Guest guest
Thanks Jim! I think my brother has one, maybe I can use his. :-) The paintball thing reminded me of his arsenal. :-) He is living in New York right now, so will have to go to my parents house if he has it. He played basketball for Buffalo last year, don't know where he is going to play this next year. Thanks for the link! ~Karma http://loaves-n-fishes.com http://www.karma.awarenesshealth.com Re: Blowgun exercise Bloowgns can be had at http://www.selfdefenseproducts.com/blowguns.htm My favorite is the Splatmatic paintball blowgun. Guest guest
We do a lot of blowing bubbles here too. I learned that helps when my other daughter was in Intensive care with a lung pump on her pumping the fluid out of her lungs from a life threatening case of pneumonia. She was on the lung pump for almost two weeks. They got almost two liters of fluid out of her little two year old body. When she was in the process of builder her lungs back up, we blew a lot of bubbles. This line of thinking brought this idea back to my mind. ~Karma http://loaves-n-fishes.com http://www.karma.awarenesshealth.com Re: Blowgun exercise Thanks for the idea!
