Guest guest
Thnaks Mandi - A full response as ever! I hear you on the language - our little tough nut who had zero language appears to be finally cracking though. He is starting to get a few words now - as you may remember, we run a home programme so his first major repeatable language is " I want go out " at the first sign of taking him up to his room for the day, then he kicks in with it again about 30 mins before he is due to finish in his room. We haven't found a silver bullet, but we are seeing his " some " progress moving towards " slow " progress - so hopefully we're on an upward curve. I think chelation has helped, also we're probably getting closer to getting his sulphation chain working and healing his gut dysbiosis. The sulphation chain has been a bugger - we needed massive B6, MSM didn't get absorbed at all, glutathione low, cysteine low, sulphate low, molybdenum low etc etc. I think it's nearly there now, it will just take a few tweaks to getting his pinwheel spinning. Still rooting for you and Sam - I may not post often, but I read your updates with interest. Guest guest
Hi, we also tried the ainsworth stuff many years ago and had major anxiety issues when using it, too scary to keep going with at the time,we have got alot tougher since then!!! Haven't ever revisited it as newer more interesting stuff has come up since. Website for Oz co.: www.secrenase.com Don't know anything about them despite having lived in Oz for nearly 4 years and sending off for their stuff whilst living there, also never came across anyone using the stuff. I think i may have been put off by our experience with ainsworths. Guest guest
Hi Kay, sorry for the delay, my home computer has given up on me. Anyway, we had s B vits blood tested. His B6 was really really low - the worst Dr.Heard had seen at that time, but someone's probably surpassed it since! We gave him pure b6 intitially, at a dosage of 270mg per day initially. To put that in perspecitve, it initially equated to circa 13000% RDA. When we retested hi B6 levels, it wasn't enough - his deficiency had decreased, but not resolved. We then added in 250 mg per day of P5P. After about another 6 months, he has finally got his b6 levels within the normal range and we are now easing down again. However, the therapeutic dose that got him there, between the b6 and p5p was circa 26000% of RDA. I would have been very concerned about giving that level without Dr.Heard's advice and the evidence of the blood tests. Hope that helps. >From: " Kay & Steve " <kay.steve@...> >Reply-Autism Treatment ><Autism Treatment > >Subject: Re: Secretin - anyone know more about >this? >Date: Sat, 20 May 2006 18:16:59 +0100 > >Hi Stuart > >Well done on the progress you are seeing. > >Can I just ask, how high a dose of B6 have you gone and is it the P5P form >of B6? > >Thanks >Kay. > > > > The sulphation chain has been a bugger - we needed massive B6, > > Thanks, Stuart > > > > > > > > DISCLAIMER > > No information contained in this post is to be construed as medical > > advice. Guest guest
Hello Not to contradict what Dr Heard told you but we were giving Tom 250 mg of P5P a day (on Dr H's advice) and both Muscroft and Dr Usman said " whoa, far too much " . So we cut back and he's now on 100mg. Obviously has a really extreme deficiency in B6 which Tom doen'st but I was told in no uncertain terms to be wary of oversupplementing P5P unless it's clearly needed. Dr H's advice is great I'm sure but on this occasion we were worried enough to go against it and go with Muscroft and Dr Usman. Guest guest
I haven't got it in front of me but remember Supernutera by Kirkmans having over 20,000 RDA of a B vitamin, I believe it was B6. Our son didn't do well on it so not trying to defend their philosophy, but it seems Dr is obviously not alone in recommending such high doses. Having said that p5p has supposedly much stronger and direct effects than plain b6.
