I'm going to have surgery for pelvic organ prolapse, and I need advice from

others who are on Spiro and have undergone surgery. (I have a left adrenal gland

APA and am on 100 mg Spiro daily.) The drug interaction info on the Spiro says

it increses reaction to norepinephrine and should be " used with caution in

patients undergoing local, regional or general anesthesia " . Has anyone here had

a problem with this? Has anyone stopped Spiro before surgery and if so how long

before?

I will talk to the anesthesiologist, but I dont expect he or she to be

knowledgeable about PA and our needs. I need to talk to my endo as well, but I

feel that the information I get on this forum is better.

What about if I stop Spiro, and maybe use a CCB for a couple of days instead,

just to keep the BP down? CCB alone worked adequately for me while I was being

evaluated for PA before I was on Spiro. How long does Spiro stay in your system?

Dr. Grim, any thoughts? Em
