Greetings,

I joined this group because my mom has CMT. I have been reading the discussions

and find them helpful. I have some expertise in epidural catheters as I am a

CRNA and frequently place and monitor epidural catheters.

The concern with any patient with demyelination neurological disease and

epidural catheters is that it may actually exacerbate the disease. There is not

much research in this area. I have read one report of an epidural cath in a

patoemt with CMT and the only adverse outcome was prolonged duration and it was

suggested to decrease the amount of local anesthetic used. I would suggest a

discussion with your OB-GYN and Neurologist and Anesthesia Dept. You can at

least be well informed.

Good luck.
