Guest guest
I remember years back some people getting out of having their children vacinated for religious reasons. My daughter-in-law did not have to have her other two kids vacinated because of Karac having autism. I think the MMR is not suppose to have thimerasol in it any more, but I know that the tetinus shot does and it caused regression in Karac. Guest guest
Kat, I know that there are a number of reasons to not have your child vaccinated and still be allowed to enter the public school system. One such reason for not vaccinating is on religious grounds, defined as being against your religious beliefs, but there are other reasons as well. . Perhaps an attorney or legal advocate knowledgeable on this subject can help you. Or of course someone on this newsgroup. Barry

Guest guest
I don't know if this varies from state to state but I live in CA and even though my son didn't attend public school till he was 6 I told them that due to his autism I would not be doing the shots. There was no problem. It is my understanding that no one can force you to do the shots for if it's based on personal, religious or medical reasons. Guest guest
There was a form (I think it was called something like the " Michigan Waiver Form " ) that you should be able to get one from a public school. It states that you have chosen not to have your children vaccinated. I took it to my son's private preschool and they accepted it. I remember also writing on it that I had my son's blood checked (titers) to see if he needed anymore shots and he didn't. The only one missing was pertussis. > > Kat, > > I know that there are a number of reasons to not have your child vaccinated > and still be allowed to enter the public school system. Guest guest
There are two things you could do: 1) Insist the doctor do a blood titers test for the vaccine. This test will show if your son is already immune from the prior vaccinations and therefore does not require the boosters and can get a medical exemption. A little fact that does not get publicized is that 95% of kids are immune from the first rounds of vaccinations and do not need the booster. The rational to vaccinate all to get at the 5% not immune is BS and a $ scheme. 2) Write a letter for a religious exemption (or see if your state has philosophical exemptions). There are many websites if you do a google search that will give you the info you need for the exemption. I would not vaccinate my children any further. I had a friend who's perfectly fine 4 yr old son got the boosters 4 years ago and within a month began to have gran mal seizures and is now a zombie like child who requires special ed and is still having at least one major seizure per day. The change I saw in this child is dramatic and terrifying. > > 4yo is due for his vaccinations. Guest guest
Thanks, everybody, for your suggestions. We can't say that he can't have them for religious reasons because that's not the case and we don't feel comfortable lying about it. Also, we shouldn't HAVE to, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I'm going to call the school board and see what they have to say. I'll just tell them we don't want to do it because he's autistic. I haven't contacted them before now because I wanted to research things a little first. Unfortunately, the end result of my research hasn't amounted to much. Ah me.... Thanks again! Guest guest
I will be testing for tithers because NJ law now states that an MMR booster is NOT required to continue in public school. My Pediatrician's office will require you to have a blood test done for tithers before they excuse you from the MMR booster. That's their " policy " With my loud mouth and history over there, I don't think they'll require the test, but I would rather my daughter have a blood test than the MMR booster. Just my personal choice.
