Guest guest
I have been rather out of the loop lately but here are some simple solutions we have successfully used in the past 1.increase Vitamin C to tolerance level. Our children can in fact take a lot of it, as it can’t be stored in the body and is immediately excreted if too much is given. This will at least start the bowels moving. We already give 1500 mg three times a day under our doctor Dr Usman. So, in times of constipation I would increase this to 2000 mg until the stools a. start moving b. become yellowish or runny. 2.Magnesium Glycinate – Kirkman brand, stocked by Nutricentre With constipation we give 2 capsules of this twice a day, again to tolerance which is when bowels become soft to runny. This is a good way to get things going. Natural and always works for us. 3.water, water, water if you can, get your child to drink as much water as you possibly can. This really helps to move things. 4.Weak Peppermint Tea this is a digestif, and it really works too. Great remedy for trapped wind. 5.Increase the amount of roughage/fibre in the diet if you can we have had some success with Quinoa – with pesto, or bolognaise sauce etc. this also lessens our dependence on rice pasta. Dr Usman is very sensible about those who can’t tolerate the SCD diet and need some carbohydrates in their diet, for various reasons. 6.other foods good for this sweet potato, butternut squash, fruit etc. mash it, hide it, put it in a sauce, juice it, you know the old food detective thing again. Hope this helps, we have so far managed to avoid the heavy RX remedies. But whatever helps is good, Alison
