Guest guest
I’m no expert but we’ve done the diet for a year now. It could be withdrawal – lots of them, including my son have withdrawal symptoms from gluten. It could also be that, sometimes, parents substitute casein and gluten for soya and corn and these are just as bad (in my case I gave my son loads of corn stuff) there are also other offending foods but there are people that know lots of stuff on this list. Sara help needed with phenol/enzymes Hi, I could really do with some advice from anyone who is using the Houston enzymes. I started my 4 year old daughter on a GF/CF/ dairy free diet with AFP Peptizyde, zyme prime in a drink 3 x a day before each meal and No Fenol initially on an empty stomach in the afternoon and then moved to her pre breakfast drink as I was giving her rice milk for b/fast and I had read you should give NF with this. She has been on the diet for 2.5 months now and at first I saw really encouraging results. She became much calmer and stopped hitting her head. She even slept the odd night without melatonin. The best thing was she was such a happy child full of smiles. About a couple of weeks ago this has started to change and she now has started to become more hyper again, occas hitting her head...not as bad as before but she had stopped, she is also more miserable and tearful again. I have decided that it must be something I am giving her and realised that she was having alot of apple, banana and tomato. I have read so much on enzymes that I think when it came to the phenol bit I must have skimmed a major chunk as I had no idea I shouldn't be giving her these. I'm now going to try cutting them out for a while, but wondered what your experience of No Fenol has been? Do you think I should give more than one dose a day? Has anyone found giving it on an empty stomach had better results than giving it with the other enzymes? I just feel that the whole enzyme diet thing is running away with me and my family are getting really annoyed with me when I announce that there is yet more foods on the no list, especially when they are such healthy foods. Has anyone living in the Tamworth/West Midlands area used anyone for testing for intolerance as I'm thinking that I just cann't do this on my own, I've tried so hard only to find that even now I have been happily feeding her all the wrong things. Sorry to bombard you all with all these questions its a reflection of my state of mind at the moment......confused! Guest guest
Thanks for your replies. I treated yeast at the beginning with NF on empty stomach followed 45 mins later by GSE once a day. My daughter had really runny nappies after this and tummy ache, after 4 days I dropped the GSE and just did the NF which was fine. Only reason I switched the NF to morning time with food was I am giving her rice milk at this time and I read I should give her NF with this. I had also read not to give too much NF and one dose a day should be enough....cann't remember where I read this I've read so much but am now thinking I should perhaps give with b/fast and then again on empty stomach. Any thoughts..........? > > > In a message dated 27/04/2006 20:18:27 GMT Daylight Time, kate@... > writes: > > She has been on the diet for 2.5 months now and at first I saw > really encouraging results. Guest guest
Thanks , Good to hear of such a positive experience. How much No Fenol did you give with each snack/meal? I was also wondering how old your son was at the time? Charlotte is 4 I wasn't sure if you should give less if the child is younger??? I've been very wary of giving No Fenol but have now raised the amount to twice a day, once with breakfast and once on an empty stomach to fight yeast. Maybe I should give it with each meal??? I was also wondering on dosage guidance with the probiotic you use Bio Kult? Charlotte is 4 years old and weighs 30lbs. Thanks again for your advise it has been very useful. We used powder in apple juice drunk with straw and gave equivalent to 1 capsule of NF with each meal or snack on the basis that some would be working on the food he was eating and some on the Yeast. We now use chewables. I was also wondering how old your son > was at the time? Charlotte is 4 I wasn't sure if you should give > less if the child is younger??? Henry was 4.5 yrs when we started and I understand that quantity of enzyme required relates to quantity of food eaten rather than age/weight of individual. The group is a great place for information and advice. I was also wondering on dosage > guidance with the probiotic you use Bio Kult? The advice with Houston enzymes seems to be low and slow to minimise any die-off or withdrawal reactions so we started slowly and built up over a month for NF - we also only ever changed one thing at a time so that we could monitor reactions/changes and also kept a detailed diary of food and bahaviour. We were advised by Natasha McBride to SLOWLY build up to six capsules of Bio-Kult per day (3 after Bfast, 3 after tea) stay at that for 6 months then start to reduce down slowly. Hope this helps >
