Hi everyone,

I have a quick question. I can't get to eat anything other than

peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches! It's odd because he used to not eat

them at all. I can fix all sorts of things but in the end I usually

have to fix him that just so he will eat. It's all he wants and I know

he needs to eat something other than the same thing day after day.

It's going on almost 2 weeks. Before this it was rice and gravey. But

it had to be brown rice like his grandma cooks! Just wondering if

anyone else has had this problem?

Thanks Celia

My son Nick is 11 and eats a peanut butter sandwich daily and has done so for a few years. Before that it was a bologna sandwich and then it was a pb & j but no longer likes jelly. I get his vitamins at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods and they are the gummy bear ones that have no artificial stuff. I also get the ones that are fruit and veggies. He eats mac and cheese many nites a week. He is now 11 and still eating very few other things. There are days when he will have one for each meal and a snack too. I have found through tons of research on this, that this is one of the best foods they can eat if they are going to be exclusive in their taste. They should be incouraged to take a vitamin daily too, and I found the ones that are like gummy bears were the only ones he would take without a fight. My son is a very healthy and not malnourished boy after years and years of PBJ sandwiches, so my advise is this. Try to coax him into having a very small piece of something you think he might like, and have there be a reward for doing so, like a favorite piece of candy, or a

favorite activity, or getting his sandwich on a favorite plate. With my son, once he had that tiny little piece, it did sometimes open up a new food he would at least consider.Hope this helps.Raylene--- >> Hi everyone,> I have a quick question. Karac use to be that way about peanut butter and honey sandwiches. Now he won't eat them at all. He goes through stages of eating different foods, but the one thing that has remained is his enjoyment of fruit. He eats granny apples, strawberries, grapes, bananas, and watermelon. Will eat any fruit or vegetables? The only vegetables that Karac will eat are raw carrots. My oldest daughter wouldn't eat anything but chicken noodle soup for years and she is not autistic. My pediatrician said don't worry about it. She survived; she is 56 and now eats a well balanced diet. LOL, Pat K

Pat, After I typed it out I said the same thing!! Lettuce, Carrots, and PB & J ... not that bad I guess. I sometimes feel like if I make one more sandwich I'm going to puke! I am beginning to hate the smell of peanut butter! But I guess I should be happy he eats something! Celiapkuenstler@... wrote: Celia, that sounds like a well balanced diet to me. smile. I would be thrilled if Karac would eat lettuce. He doesn't eat

anything green except the green apples. LOL, Pat K

Lettuce is the only veggie mine will eat, and he's got to have it without any mix of carrots or anything else, or it is tainted in his mind and he won't even eat around the other veggies LOL!

Mine also will only eat apples for fruit. He prefers the green, but will reluctantly have a red one if he has no choice.

I totally relate to wanting to puke from the smell of peanut butter! I've literally been making them for over 10 years, in mass production each day.

Funny how some of our kids are so alike in certain ways and so different in others.

Hi everyone! I would love to have GW eat peanut butter; however, he is allergic to peanuts! Poor kid, I really duped him~I gave him the three A's, Autism, Allergies, and Asthma! Anyone else? For GW, he likes meat, but mainly hamburger and pork, steak is okay sometimes, depending on the mood! His favo vege~ smashed potatoes, and one carrot! I feel lucky with those..... he might eat an apple or banana, occassionally, but I found the Pediasure and Vitamins are a big hit~so he gets plenty of those :) AprilRaylene <lvmurs@...> wrote: Lettuce is the only veggie mine will eat, and he's got to have it without any mix of carrots or anything else, or it is tainted in his mind and he won't even eat around the other veggies LOL! Hi Nichole,

I don't know if it's part of SMA but I am the same. I never really feel

hungry, I just feel sick or weak and think I better eat. I almost starved

to death in my teens and have read and been told that once the body gets

severely malnourished it will lose the feeling of hunger - so I thought this

was my problem. I don't have any ulcers or problems otherwise...just lost

the feeling of hunger in my early teens. Sorry to be not so inspiring! --

but you are not alone. :-/
