Guest guest
Off to see independent SaLT today.............£800 for assessment and report for SEN tribunal......no holiday for us again this year. Also need referral to OT - have asked Paed 2 weeks ago and no response, so probably need to bloody pay for that as well. LEA says his needs are not severe enough....he is 'just' Aspergers, you see......£669 for Ed Psych, who said it was totally obvious that Philip needs almost full time 1-1 support in order to survive in school.... Guest guest
Join the club!! We went to Tribunal yesterday, after spending 8 hours in discussion it was adjourned so that the LEA could 'better prepare its case'!!! I cannot tell you how much I wanted to thump the Chairperson. So now, it has been adjourned and we have to pay out over again for round 2. The LEa must have laughed all the way back to their offices. Guest guest
Ask for your costs for the next days hearing. The LEA shouldn't be able to get away with this. Also I've been warned adjournments are bad for the Appellant(you) because the Tribunal will have forgotten the evidence given on day 1 by the time they reconvene. So make sure you remind them of all your key points when you reconvene. Margaret Re: Financial haemmoraging Join the club!! Guest guest
We had our tribunal 10 years ago ( in Lincolnshire ) and were lucky enough to have Bibby as our lawyer. The director of spec ed needs even tried to strike a deal one min before we all went in for the hearing. All we asked him for originally was some help with things like pencils and exersize books so that we could " home educate " our severely autistic son. This man told us to " get lost " , which is why we took his department to a tribunal - and won! Since then, although we have imnported ABA consultants from the US and Scandinavia at a huge cost, it has still worked out a lot cheaper than the real cost of local authority schooling. They still don't like it though. I think it's a big ego thing with these people. Miles. gailjewsbury wrote: > Join the club!! Guest guest
Hi Sharon Home educating Philip has driven both me and Dixon to the point of breakdown plus it has added pressure to family relationships generally. It is not something we chose - we were forced into it and I would never go there again knowing what I do now. It is not something I would recommend to anyone with a severe AS child. If only I had known then what I know now.......... Guest guest
What is going on with Sendist. LEA's are now being briefed by Sendist 'experts', told to away and improve their case if they want to win. Surely this is not within the child's best interests. The LEA didn't get it right the first time because they didn't have the child's best interests at heart. Now parents don't even know what school the LEA will pull out of the hat at the last minute and don't have the time to even consider properly via independent reports etc, whether it is a suitable provision for their child. Gail, the chair of Sendist is behaving like an Estate Agent, telling the vendor how to tart up their property if they want to make a sale. Whose side exactly is Sendist on. Not the childs. Gillian. Guest guest
WHAT? That’s appalling. So sorry for you – our tribunal coming up so you REALLY have my pity – as if it isn’t enough to go through in the first place. Do you have to pay for lawyers and expert witnesses again? I hope not. Guest guest
I think it’s about time we parents put together a list of people who are acting against our children, people at Sendist, officers at the LEA, judges, teachers, doctors. Guest guest
That’s the best idea I’ve EVER heard. There is absolutely NO commupence for these people. I can imagine a day when it all comes out in the wash and it’s accepted that our children have been poisoned. Perhaps the papers would then be interested in publishing the worst offenders on the list? I’m all for it. How do we start? I also think we need another list of helpful people in authority (probably much shorter).
