Guest guest
, No, numbness is not necessarily an indication of someone needing a wheelchair - unless maybe he cannot feel his legs and feet move at all, and has muscle atrophy to the extent that his feet and legs, arms, hands, and the accompanying fatigue as a result might indicate a wheelchair to help out with quality of life. But most likely before that, one would try using AFOs, KAFOs, etc. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
To everyone with the numbness problem, Here's a good example of what has happened to me in the last 3 weeks. I went to work, on my feet for too many hours, got home, took my sneakers off, and my back seemed to slip out (I've made and appt. with my doctor since and can't get in until Wednesday) anyway..it hurts on my right butt cheek, anyway, like a jerk I have to keep working and after work on Thursday night I came home and had a blister on the top of my toe (next to my big one), but since I can't feel it, it had blistered, broke and was bleeding. Today it looks like the guts are falling out of my toe and it's black and blue, which is dangerous and my stupidity. It's something I have to really keep on top of before it falls off!! So to anyone out there, who isn't as ignorant as I am, please be careful. I'm out of here and back to bed with ice packs for the back and soaking my foot. Just be careful with the numbness!! Guest guest
I am numb from my knees down and now I am numb in my hands up to halfway up my forearm. I have at one time early on been walking inside my home barefoot (very stupid) and realized I had driven a tack into my foot and never felt it. My numbness keeps me from feeling the strings on my guitar to play like I use to but I keep trying. My handwriting is horrible and I miss doing calligraphy too. But with all my numbness I have really learned to do feet and hand inspections daily. Numbness is part of my life but I don't let it stop me from doing what I want I just adapt and learn new hobbies I can do. I recently cut a Gospel CDsome thing I never had time to do when I could feel my body and was on the go a lot.I used to make beautiful shirts for my dad and hubby, now I can't feel the pins sooooo now I make them simple things like BBQ aprons. My key word to live with numbness is ADAPT ADAPT ADAPT!!!!! Five years ago a doctor told me I would be in a wheel chair in 6 months, well just stand back and watch this gal go. Remember to keep smiling it makes people wonder what you have been up too. ~~~Cathleen in Arkansas
