an excess of mononuclear leukocytes (lymphocyte class)... and generally after an

incubation period of uncertain duration (one week to several weeks), headache,

sorethroat, mental and physical fatigue, severe weakness, and symptoms typical

of influenza develop. Skin rashes may also occur. A rare side effect is

neutropenia.

in 8 to 10 percent of all cases the liver is involved and jaundice occurs,

resulting in a condition that resembls infectious hepatitis. In rare cases, the

heart,.lungs and central nervous system may also be affected. The spleen may

become enlarged. The lymph nodes adn spleen may remain emlarged for sometime

after the symptoms disappear.

Sometimes it can become chronic and lingering.. some patients have fatigue,

low-grade fever, swollen lymph glands, a sore throat and aching muscles adn

joints that can persist for many year or months... this condition can be

definitely dxed by testing blood for antibodies to the Epstein Barr virus.

This is from the Keane Encyclopedia....I can tell you from experoince

that it was the worst sore throat I ever experienced in my entire life.

Gail, for me the really bad craving backed off at about 6 weeks. You have made it this far and you should be very proud of yourself, i know we all are!

I quit almost 8 years ago now and every once in awhile i still get the urge for one. One of the guys i work with smokes and sometimes i have to really control myself not to ask for one. Don't think he would give me one though... he is a good guy :)

is off to the pain doc now, wish me luck
