Since the free T3 is dependent on T4 for conversion, you could surmise without looking at the free T3 that it is also a quart low. >>What would you do about that then? I always thought we had to check the ref ranges because in general they don't use Paed ones, Dr P said OK but I am assuming that in the past Andy has said they should be higher than Dr P gave? My DAN! is back from leave soon, will see what he says. We are goign to see him in May so we shall probably just do it privately and get it over and done with properly because we will be draawing other bloods then too. I did Willis's iodine patch test on all the family, who all needed 3 paintings to make the 24 hours except me Mandi x

Guest guest
Lol, you would have to ask that. If it were me, before I would wrestle another dr over there for the proper test, I would take his temp, 3-4 times a day to see what it is, just use an ear thermometer that you have checked the accuracy with a mercury thermometer. If those 3-4 x a day temps were close to 98.6, I would then take his basal temp (first temp of the day before he even gets up, this is impossible with an under 8 year old!) and make sure it was at least 97.8. If those two temps are okay, I would forget it, but I think the free T4 is low enough, his free T3 is also low. If they are not okay, I would be back to a verbal wrestling match with the dr to get the free T3 checked. Pick your poison, but is really important.
