, Nora, Liz,

Today, I had the great fortune of visiting with some new friends who

work for Monty 's ranch near where I live. Odd that this should

occur as I happened on a tour of his center, barns, horses, plus had

the chance to get in the saddle again. Wow. Really a thrill. I should

do this more.

Back to the boots issue - I noticed people there in the barns wearing

some mid-calf type rubber boots, and they had a good thick sole and

heel on them. Something " clicked " in me and I asked where these boots

are from. The answer was " LL Bean " - so just thought I'd pass this on

to you all. These boots were the lace-up kind - so I am thinking they

would work with AFOs, but not being an AFO wearer, I am not certain

about this.

Keep on riding, Liz and Nora. Wow. Do I still love horses myself :)

Back to the winter boots issue, yes, I know I live in Calif and don't

need them, but, I lived in Wyoming for a number of years and

Sorrell's were the best boots I ever had. Warm, dry, even came in a

beautiful white color (yeah I know not practical for walking in snow)

but so fashionable. I still have those plus my ordinary brown/tan

Sorrells. I would wear them to walk the dog, they have a good sole

and traction (although ice anywhere is disaster), and also wear them

to work. I'd carry a nicer pair of shoes with me to wear in the

office during the day, then change again to Sorrell's before going

home.

I also found a great pair of winter boots one year at Target, no

less, red ones, fake fur inside - hey they matched my car and my

coat - and for $18 they made it through 2 Wyo. winters!
