Guest guest
, I am not , but will attempt to fill you in about Vitamin C. First, we have all our Vitamin C info in our Files section. This includes the original research paper which is important to read. The Vitamin C research conducted was done on mice with CMT 1A. To this date, no human CMT research has taken place, although there is still talk about doing so. Something important to remember, mice synthesize Vitamin C, humans do not. So, as you go back to April 2004 in our messages (archives) you will find the first Vitamin C news, and then read posts forward for that year to hear about the doses others have taken and their results. If I remember correctly, all but maybe one person taking C on their own has CMT 1A. That one other person has a form of Type 2. It is the 'side effects' of Vitamin C right now that seem to have an advantageous outcome on CMT. By this I mean, increased energy, strength, etc. I haven't heard of anyone who has had CMT progession stopped or ameloriated from taking it. And it is still too new for us to hear about any second generation human results. However, in the mice, I recall, the original research used 30 generations, and found at the end of the study, CMT had been ameloriated. So, with that, I will let you go and read in our Files and past posts and if you choose to take Vitamin C, it will be your decision. It might be wise to check with your doctor on this - hoping for an open mind. Persons taking C also take E because it helps with absorption. ~ Gretchen
