Guest guest
Zyrtec is just an antihistamine, like Claritan. Karin Allergic- Zyrtec? Hi all, J has had a rash on his lag for about 3 weeks now. I tried to use a Cream I have here but it wasen't working and he has been scraching his leg like crazy. I took him to the Dr. tonight and he gave me a cream and said to give J 1 tablet of Zyrtec aday. Has anyone ever given this to their child? J has a peridoxial effect with those kind of meds. I told him that J takes resperdal and Lorazapam but he said that shouldn't matter. I am fine with the cream BUT am not sure about the med. Any comments?? Thanks!! Guest guest
Hello, My son has sinus issues, but I don't know to what extent. However, his pediatrician prescribes zyrtec for it and it works very well to clear up congestion. I haven't noticed any side effects. I usually give him the zyrtec at night, however, on a really high pollen day I give it to him in the morning before school. However, my son is 12 years old, almost six feet tall and 200 lbs., and may not be relative to your son's situation. My son also is on clonidine for hyperactivity. He can take both meds at the same time without noticeable side effects. Just thought I'd share another scenario for you to compare. Rosemary Allergic- Zyrtec? Guest guest
Well it depends on what he's allergic to in cold meds. Cold meds sometimes are a combination of things, If he's allergic to decongestants, then Zyrtec should be fine, as it's not a decongestant, just an antihistamine. Karin Allergic- Zyrtec? Guest guest
Ok, well Benadryl is a pure antihistamine so I wouldn't give him Zyrtec, as that is also pure antihistamine.
