Welcome , thanks for introducing yourself, it is always great to

hear from across the pond.

As for the Amitriptyline, yes, it is a good medication, I have taken it

since I was 35 (am now 53). I have been on many doses - now taking 75

mg of it each night. It helps with my burning feet and also keeps the

and tremors (shakiness) suppressed in me.

As for the potassium, while I do not now take it, all through my

teenage years I was prescribed it (liquid form) and I do feel it helped

me and was advantageous. Several years ago following surgery, my potassium

levels fell too low and once again I was given a very short course of liquid

potassium.

Hard to say about the pain in your thumbs - watch what Amitriptyline

does. It just may take the pain away. But in answer to your question, some

people with CMT do have their hand affected in different degrees.

I hope you find to be helpful and positive.

Again, welcome!
