Guest guest
Hi does anyone know what the safest flooring is for our kids ie with the least chemicals and off -gassing. I seem to be going around in circles looking for a new floor and in the end I do nothing and leave the same old poo stained carpet! Thanks Peta

Guest guest
Linoleum is great and comes in beautiful colours -lasts forever and is expensive. Also you can't lift it for electrical/plumbing work as it's rigid and should be stuck down. Margaret
Guest guest
More on flooring, What do you think of this? It's TION technology that uses titanium dioxide to break down harmful elements and you can get it in carpets. # TionTM actively purifies indoor air. The technology breaks down harmful components and unpleasant odours - at home, in your car, and in your office. # TionTM is fully safe for people and animals. # TionTM uses ultraviolet light, so it is always active. 1. Irritating molecules such as tobacco smoke, exhaust gases, etc. are omnipresent in your home. 2. TionTM contains the catalyst titanium dioxide. The irritating molecules come into contact with the titanium dioxide via the air. Under the influence of ultraviolet light, they are broken down by photocatalysis. 3. The products of this reaction are water vapour and carbon dioxide, which are perfectly harmless. The air in the living space is thus continually purified. http://www.tiontechnology.com/en/ Emlyn
Guest guest
Hi Elaine, I've gone for a product called Karndean, which is basically vinyl, but looks indistinguishable from wood; apparently the wood flooring in M & S isn't wood, it's karndean. I had wanted wood, but with the amount of fluids flying around the place (most frequently rubber gloves filled with water and called 'balloons'), I am worried that the wood will warp, as I don't always find puddles straight away. The guy selling it recommended it as we have a very bouncy dalmatian and he didn't think wood would last with him, so it is pretty hard wearing, and he is getting me some non-toxic screed and glue. I thought they had low VOC glue in healthy house? hth Diane flooring Hi everyone, Well we have the builders in at last! As part of the work we are having done we want to create a toxic free bedroom for . So we have ordered an organic bed and bedding. We are using the paint from healthy house, we will be careful where we put sockets etc but I am struggling with flooring. I don’t want to use cork because I don’t think it will withstand , carpet is not practical and so want to get oak or hard wood flooring. Is buying untreated oak enough and then varnish myself, or is there something better? Also does anyone know of safe glue to use to stick the flooring down? Thanks Elaine
Guest guest
Hi Diane, Do you think it is suitable for a toxic free bedroom? I have just spoken to karndean international and they say it is a pvc product. Guest guest
Hi Elaine Because it is man made I think it does " off gas " . Also we found a paint called earthborn which is natural - brewers stock it and they only have a few colours so easier to choose.
