Guest guest
Hi Chel, I think I forgot to share that I am in an attorney program for the next 8 months, specific to Social Security Disability law only - it is a pilot program. I am working with a local firm and " learning by doing " cases gratis now - since it is Federal law for Title II and XVI benefits, and since there are many new changes, I just keep on reading and absorbing all I can, asking questions, study, study, study each case is so different, then next June I take the test - like a 'mini' Bar exam, only specific to SSD law. In July I find out the results, when those are positive that I pass and am 'certified' , then I can collect the same fees the lawyers get in this biz. So far it is v e r y interesting work and I enjoy each case because each is unique. The people at the firm are all great - lol, they have nicknamed me " Bulldog " since I just want to get in their and speak my mind on SS issues and help expedite disabled persons benefits. I enjoy meeting the clients too and they seem to trust me as well. Have won the first two cases I presented at Hearings, so either I am having beginner's luck, or maybe I'm learning it right and presenting the cases right. Very little of my work is typing, although I make notes on cases in Word, but typing is no issue for me - my CMT doesn't affect my hands. Since the Hearings Offices are backed up about 12 months, this work is on somewhat of an " as needed basis " and leaves me time for writing, research, my other business ventures, working out, managing the house, , travel and the rest of life's pursuits, ad infinitium. ~ Gretchen
