Guest guest
Joe- I am taking topamax - it took a while to get used to it but I do think it is helping. At first I was very, very sleepy and I had a kind of tingly numbness in my fingers. Now I do not have those symptoms and it helps with the pain in my feet especially. I still have some bad days and there are still days where I need other pain medication but I do believe that it has helped me feel better in general. It is important to start with small doses and build up gradually. I just started in June, and now take only 50 mg. in the a.m and p.m. I have noticed that it does not seem to be working quite as well so I think I will increase it (I have spoken to my dr. and we will work together on this in the near future. He says that the usual dosage would be around 100 mg. in the a.m. and p.m. for someone of my size). Anyhow, I think my advice would be to give it a fair chance. It took me about a month to get used to it and for it to work....I almost gave it up too about two weeks into it! Good luck, and let me know if there is anything else you want to know. Oh, one more thing I discovered is that it is very, very important to drink a LOT of water when you take it! Deb
