Guest guest
Today they announced a rather interesting license for embryo in-vitro fertilisation to work on eliminating female related genetic disorders in the UK. Basically, the sperm and egg are fertilized (thus creating the DNA for a human) but the resulting " nucleus " is transplanting into the egg of a non-genetically impacted individual so that the mitochondrial DNA responsible for many forms of genetic disorders (including apparently many MDA supported diseases) are eliminated as the cells develop into a baby. It means that the resulting genetic material from three people is in the resulting individual, but it offers hope of eliminating mitochondrial genetic disorders.
