Guest guest
Hi, My daughter has had the same problem with her AFOs (she is now on her 2nd pair). She has to return to her orthotist when she comes home for Thanksgiving break to get this annoying problem fixed. I am interested, Bob, in what you said about a different style that doesn't have this problem. Do you have any links to web sites where I could see what these look like? Also that I could show to the orthotist? My daughter, Nora, is now 18, diagnosed at age 12. She wore AFOS for several years after her diagnosis and then her gait was enough better that she didn't wear them for several years. Last year, partly I think due to riding her horse less (boyfriend!) and gaining some weight, her gait and weakness got worse. She is at college now and walking and riding more, so I hope there is some improvement. It is amazing how your kids mature! She is now able to tell people about her CMT (not sure how many of her new friends know, but at least some of them do) and ask for help, for example, with carrying her laundry up from the basement laundry room in her dorm.
