Guest guest
I really suffer from the cold in general now, but remember even before I knew I had CMT (even as a child) whenever I was sick with the flu or a virus or something I would always get terribly cold and no one could understand how it felt " cold to the bone. " I think that this sensation may have something to do with how someone with CMT reacts to illness and or fevers, etc. Nothing really helps except really piling the blankets on, CAREFULLY using electric blankets, etc (because of the decreased sensation it is important to monitor) and waiting it out. (I am not clear as to whether you also have CMT so I hope I am not seeming as if I am telling you things you already know.) Of course, it is important to ask your dr. what is going on, but my main point is to listen to her complaint about the cold and just try to warm her up - at least that is my personal experience. It is such a miserable feeling to be that cold. Deb
Guest guest
Now a nice warm bath or shower always has been able to warm my bones up. Cathleen in Arkansas
Guest guest
Hi Deb, I too, remember when I was very young ...mom used to put me in bed and I always wanted to be placed on the top of the wool blanket instead being on the top of the cold sheet hahaha!!! My mom used to be very cross with me because of that! Another thing I used to do is to go to bed with my socks too..lol Well, now I am not doing that..I make sure my flat is always very warm, my heating is always on and in the winter months I run away to Brasil..lol That is the only way I can survive the cold weather...I hate the cold weather because I can not move well, and even use my hands get frozen...so silly this! That is CMT after all! Take Care Joana in London
Guest guest
I can barely move when I'm cold. Bedtime is especially " chilly " for me in the Midwestern winter months. My husband affectionately refers to me as in iceberg So, I wear socks to bed along with my flannel pajamas, or sometimes even warm up pants and a sweatshirt. Something else that really helps me when I just can't get warm is to put an electric heating pad at my feet. During the warm summer months, its just the opposite. I wear as little as possible because I suffer from burning feet and what feels like hot flashes.

Guest guest
Hi Deb, Thank you,and thank you to everyone who responded with comments and suggestions on " being cold " . No, I do not have CMT, my 5yr old daughter has CMT. So any information offered is greatly appreciated. At times it is very hard for me to understand what Katelyn is going through. So I will post my concerns to receive any information to help me understand a little better. If only I could live oneday in her body to comprehend how CMT impacts her everyday life. It's very hard as a mother to watch your child struggle or suffer and not know sometimes how or what you can do to help them. Any information you have to offer is always appreciated. louise - mother of 3 beautiful girls.
Guest guest
I hate to feel cold but living in the Midwest it's kinda unavoidable. I use to wear socks & sweatpants to bed at night but now cannot stand to have the feeling of too many clothes on me. When I was able to take baths, I would fill the tub up with the hottest bearable water to warm myself up & then hurry to bed. Now that it has gotten harder for me to move around like I use to, my mom has boughten me a heated mattress pad. Not looking forward to the cold temps coming soon 'cuz my heating bill gets high from having it so warm in my apartment then.
