Guest guest
GinnyAnn, My toes were fused at the knuckles and pins were inserted in each toe. That keeps them straight while the insides heal together. My pins were in for 6 wks. I went to the dr every week to be checked.I wore my leg braces and had a surgical boot. I looked like a wreck for awhile. In the beginning I used crutches to keep the pressure of my foot. I had each foot done seperately. My kids had both done at the same time. I was the runner and doer so for them it was ok.At this time I'm having trouble transferring pictures from my camera to the pc otherwise I'd show off my toes. Just make sure your surgeon is knowlegable in this procedure. On the big toe INSIST both knuckles get done. Some drs. don't understand the toe drop completely. My son had to have his redone and his 2nd surgeon and I went round the block on that point. I pulled off my shoes, socks n braces right before his surgery to make my point and I WON! Best of luck. Barb
