Guest guest
Pat, with Evan, as well as myself and Bob, I have not been able to do the whole diet but we are working into it. Even though they eliminate dairy at first, raw dairy is allowed back into the diet later, after the gut is stabilized. The coconut kefir establishes good bacteria back into the gut and is also full of essential vitamins and minerals. That has not been a problem getting Evan or Bob to take but I do not even do 9 coconuts a weeks, let alone a day. I just ordered some raw milk out of Fresno, Ca and it was a bit costly but no more so than making coconut kefir and coconut milk. Bob was not sure that he would like the raw milk since it has been years since he has had any but I did not doubt that he would. He was raised on it and at two different times in our marriage we owned dairy milk goats of the Nubian variety. Their milk is much like a Holsteins. I bought it frozen and it was shipped overnight by UPS. As soon as I had a gallon thawed I made a quart of kefir using my coconut kefir as a starter. Bob said it tasted just like good quality buttermilk AND HE LIKED IT!! He also said that he hopes we can keep buying the raw milk because he felt better just drinking some the first day. Now if that stays true, I am all for the extra cost because I am trying to buy less junk food so that should cover the cost. This diet is one of many that calls for eliminating much of the acid foods and using lots of alkali foods. Not every one follows it religiously and they still have good results. Some follow it closely and do not have the same results. Evan does not have the gut problems that some have so I am more concerned about replacing the good bacteria, trying to cut white sugar, white flour, potatoes and processed rice from our diets. I have a long way to go but I am having some head way with more vegetables and meat and little or no rice or potatoes. Bread is something that we use little of but even there I am trying to stick to whole wheat. If you check out Donna's web site that I sent on the other post there is much more information. There are other articles on file at the beginnerBedrock group with recipes and testimonials. I really think that Andea and her other two boys need this diet more than Evan does but they rebell at foregoing their Fast Foods. I have not cut ours out completely but French Fries are gone and now I am working on NO sodas. We have very little here now. My cooking oils are now Virgin Olive Oil and Virgin Coconut Oil. Well, I had to replace the Virgin coconut oil with the expeller which does not have the coconut taste but it still has most of the same health properties. I have yet to decided whether I am going to fully follow this diet or go with The Makers Diet. There are many similarites. Betty
