The only vegetable that karac will eat is raw carrots, and the only meats Karac will eat are chicken and ham. Oh, he will also eat a hotdog and peperroni pizza. He does like fruit; he eats grapes, strawberries, oranges, and apples. However, if Evan has some significant improvement with the diet, I'll certainly give it a try. Keep me informed of any progress. Guest guest Posted February 9, 2005 Report Share Posted February 9, 2005 Evan has trouble chewing meats and seems to only care for the ones that are easy to eat. We were told that he cannot chew properly and that is another reason that we cut his food for him, especially meat into small pieces. Even so some of it he will just chew and spit out. Hotdogs and pepperoni pizza are also something Evan likes. I think is the only one who does not like the pepperoni. He pulls it off the pizza. Both of them rarely eat the bread part of the pizza. I have often told that all he needs is some cheese with pizza sauce.! Evan is just learning to eat raw veggies if they are cut small enough, like the meat. Otherwise he chews on it and spits it out. I am not sure he is ever going to learn to chew properly but he is doing better. he does the same thing with apples but will eat all his pear. I think it is a texture thing. I cannot think of a fruit that Evan does not like. I even have to share my avocado with him now. A friend started off giving me a taste of hers and I did not like it but she ate them a lot and kept at me to keep trying a taste. Now, some 35 years later, I eat the whole thing just like she did. I would give Evan a taste of mine since he always has to check out what anyone is eating and the next thing I know, he is taking half of it. If it is a small one, he just takes the whole thing! Evan has been making more 'sounds' and noises that almost sound like words recently. I am not sure if that is the diet or not. It is also allergy time with the many orchards in our area blooming. He is cranky as he can be with absolute rages lately. Not sure where that is coming from, plus his intense need to check out the vehicles that seem new to the location. We are not sure just what is causing the new behaviors since his Trileptal was raised slightly on the 21st. His school nurse was trying to get a hold of the nurse from the Regional Center or Evan's worker since they were having meetings with the telemedicine doctor today. I don't know if he ever heard from them but they did not call here. This diet is not just to take out the foods like gluten, casein, corn & soy but also to add enzymes back into the gut and heal it. I do not know if you ever read Dr. Mercola's website but he also is very much against most grains, corn and soy. Well, most of our processed foods. I guess we have pretty much processed all that is good out of our foods whether we eat Fast Foods or not. wanted a jar of my homemade sauerkraut yesterday so I gave it to him. I never realized how easy it was to make but I do not use the cultured veggie mix just sea salt and filtered water. There are less enzymes that way but we do not like the other way. Hopefully we can work our way up to it. Our family eats too much junk food and I am trying to overcome our bad habits. So far, Bob is feeling better and he is just drinking some of the coconut kefir and raw milk kefir. Very little of it. He actually said that he felt better after drinking some of the raw milk the very first day. If it makes him feel better, I will buy it no matter that it costs a lot. He said not to but he is moving around a lot better since he started drinking it this week. Maybe that is also why Evan is moving around better, lol. Karac has seemed to be trying to talk more; maybe Evan is too. I can only imagine what Evan would say if he could talk. Do you sometimes think you know just what he is saying in his mind? Sometimes I think I can read Karac's mind, and sometimes I think he is reading my mind. They are so interesting aren't they? I wish I knew what Evan looks like.
