Guest guest
, I am so sorry for what you have encountered with your AFO and shoe being made. While I am a fan of New Balance shoes and I do recommend them, I realize they might not be suitable for your work. So, perhaps Canfield shoes, Aarvon shoes (made by New Balance - but they are professional type shoes) or even Hush Puppies might work. They all have 'extra depth' and can accommodate AFOs. As for spine injections - I had 3 first - a course of epidural steroid injections into my spine for intense back pain I had several years ago, due to a slipped disc. The first shot was great - no pain at all for 15 hours! The next 2 shots did nothing. Then I had 3 more injections in my back, but these were subcutaneous (just under the skin in my back) These were experiemental - done at UCLA - and these were injections of Embrel (a medication used in Rheumatoid Arthritis) These injections did more than anything and were so simple. The first one gave me 12 hours of relief, the second one I had about 6 hours of relief, the 3rd, about 3 hours of relief. So all things considered, really none of the injections in my back for anything worked on the pain. What I needed was surgery, I had a spinal fusion in my lower back May of 2002 and have been out of pain ever since. So that's my 2 cents worth on shoes and injections. ~ Gretchen
