Guest guest
On August 3rd I went to Central Brace and Orthotics in Lexington, Kentucky to be fitted for an AFO for my left foot and ankle. After waiting two months for my insurance to agree to pay 80% of the 1100.00 cost the company finally began making my brace and ordering shoes. Two weeks ago I went for the first initial fitting and discovered the wrong shoe size was ordered and since it had taken so long for insurance approval the brace did not fit. My ankle has turned in considerably in two months. The brace was sent back for adjustments the shoes were sent back for another size. Another week passes, I go for another fitting, the shoe style I picked out had been discontinued. The store representative talked to me very unprofessionally, comments such as " you make my job difficult because your foot is so small " . I was expected to take what he wanted me to have. I am trying to stay with a style and color that is suitable for casual and work. Now, I am looking through a magazine for another pair of shoes and hoping by the time I find something suitable the brace will still fit. I started a new medication a month ago (Lyrica) and have not had the results I had hoped for. I go back to the pain clinic on the 25th for a follow up. I am afraid I'm down to two choices, more surgery or injections in my spine. Any advice from anyone? Any recommendations on a store for shoes?
