Chris

I used to do home therapy and one of the components for one town i

worked in was s trictly parent training. What i did was ask the

parents what difficulties they were hving with their child or whta

are things they would like to work on ( ex: potty training). I was

not supposed to work one:one with the child but more with the

parents working with the child. I would make picture schedules for

bed time routines, teeth brushing. Sometimes i would go on community

trips to the dentist with the family or for a haircut. I would also

show parents how to run ABA sessions or floortime goals with thier

child. We would talk about behvaior intervention strategies( ignore,

intervene, redirect). I loved doing it but sometimes i did feel

unwanted by the parents because i am young and have no childrn of my

own and i felt as if parents thought i ws telling them how to raise

their kid. So just ona side note if you get a home trainign just

rember some of us may not have a child with autism but it is most

of our specialities and thats what our job is. I hope this helps

Feel free to emial me with any othe rquestions

Jessie
