Hi Janette

I tried to access the link and got a message saying the file was

damaged. Could you cut and paste the relevant text into a post on ABE?

Thanks

Zoe :)

Hi Zoe,

Sorry I cant seem to cut amd paste either. Have had a look to see if

it was available in HTML but no luck. Maybe Mandi can send you a

copy. Relevant para under " prevalence " says:

" The only figure available at present is that estimated by The

National Autistic Society, which combines two studies. The first of

these was conducted by Wing in 1979. It identified a prevalence rate

for those with autism and accompanying learning disability as 20 in

every 10,000. A 1993 study in Gothenberg by Ehlers and Gillberg found

a prevalence of high functioning autism and asperger's syndrome of 36

per 10,000, and another 35 per 10,000 with social impairments which

fit into the autism spectrum. The two studies are combined to

estimate prevalence in the United Kingdom at 91 per 10,000 per head

of population, or 1 in 110. "

The report was produced by Fiona Loynes in June 2001!!

Janette :-)

Thanks Janette - used internet explorer in the end and it was

fine........must've been one of Bill Gates' bugs stopping me using

another browser!

Thanks for your help, you're very kind.
