Guest guest
I have two students who will eat anything they can, often not food items. They wait until you are working with someone else or are somehow distracted and go over and try to get things out of the trash. We have a big trashcan that you need to use two hands to open and that kept them out for awhile, but they eventually figured it out. Of course, we are told to keep a better eye on the students, but as we are human we find it fairly difficult to be two-six places at once. In a room like ours we manage to have bizarre unexpected things come up constantly. We've tried locking the trash can in the laundry room, but then you have to unlock the room and relock it and in that time they get into something else and half of our time is taken up locking and unlocking things. Does anyone know of a kid proof trashcan that doesn't take too long to get into for the rest of us? Maybe something with multiple steps to open? Thanks
Guest guest
That would be a great thing to have. We have to take things right outside that we do not want Evan to get into. We have to lock the refrigerator and the freezer as well as a couple of cupboards or he will be into things that we would prefer not to have his hands in.......peanut butter, mayonaise, etc. It is so much fun to be fixing a meal and have to re-lock the refrigerator to keep him from getting into something while I am turned around. I sympathize with you and would like the answer to that one myself. Guest guest
Someone just gave me an idea. We might try something with bungee cords or something...If we get something that works I'll definately write it up on this board! They say that the more you think and learn the less likely you will be to get dementia...these kids are going to keep me healthy, let me tell ya! I may go crazy, but my mind will still be sharp > That would be a great thing to have. We have to take things right outside > that we do not want Evan to get into. Guest guest
They say that the more you think and learn > the less likely you will be to get dementia...>> Well, then, dementia should be the least of our problems, lol! Bungee cords would not work with Evan. I was using twistees to try and fashen the plastic hook of the electric fence so that he could not unhook it. (A trick he learned from one of the small neighbor boys) I kept getting tiny shocks as I would fashen the twist tie around the hook and the latch. Apparently, the small shocks did not hurt Evan any more than it did me, although it kept him from climbing over the wire. I ended up having to forget having the easily removal latch. Now we will just have to unplug the wire if we need to. Now he would rather go into the front yard to play because he can get over the 4' fence if we let down our guard. That mind of his is always ticking. Betty
