Judith,

I am sorry I can't be much help. I will keep helping you look for

information but for now my doctor said today anything with the side effect of

seizures it is a neuro-toxin.

I am sorry I didn't finish my last post and left the word seizure out.

Anything that causes a seizure is a neuro-toxin.

Hello all,

I am so worried about this as I feel the doctors treating me are

not taking me seriously. I have crohn's colitis and they have

treated me with the drug Asacol in the past. A rare side effect of

it is damage to the peripheral nerves. Well after about six months

on it I began to get tingling all over me so it was stopped. Now the

doctor wants me to try the same drug in form of an enema. I asked

about the possible side effect of nerve damage and she asked where I

heard that and laughed when I mentioned I thought I read it on the

internet. She got her BNF book out and said it didn't mention

anything to do with that in there so it was perfectly

safe....However having just about to do my first enema I was reading

the instructions and saw it written that a side effect can be pins

and needles numbness leading to damage of the peripheral nerves...I

am scared to use it now and as bad as my colitis can be I do not

want to make my CMT worse. Can anyone please offer me some advice or

tell me what they think I should do?....

thankyou so much ...

Judith.
