Guest guest
So, I guess I don't have Conn's Disease, after all this I've been through. I have to tell you that I'm a little ticked at how the office handled my case in the past few weeks. They took me off the spironolactione about 8 or 9 weeks ago and I had the renin vs aldosterone ratio test done when I'd been off of it for 6 weeks. I'd been having alot of difficulty being off the spiro. My lower extremities began swelling a few weeks after they'd taken me off of it, so I called them and a few days later, when they'd spoken with my regular doctor, they put me on another blood pressure pill that I cannot recall the name of. I think I posted about it a few weeks ago. Anyways, my blood pressure and the swelling was getting worse and worse, so I kept calling the endocrinologist's office to find out what to do. It was really becoming a problem. I'd alway get an answer a day or two after I'd leave a message with them, but this last time, i waited two days and still no answer. I was having difficulty getting around, I felt horrid and bloated every where and I told the endo office this. my legs were swelling half way to my knees. I was trying to work this week because I've had chronic C Diff on and off, which my work won't let me work when I have the c diff symptoms, so I've been off alot and in and out of the hospital with that. I was struggling to get through my day, and hadn't heard from the dr office so yesterday morning I called them. Spoke with the nurse and she told me that the test had come back and I don't have Conn's Disease. (She had just told me last week that the doc had said to tell me that my Conn's Disease was causing my symptoms) I got upset and I dont' really recall what the rest of the conversation went like. When I asked her about the swelling and high blood pressure, she told me to go back to my regular doctor. I was upset because I felt like they'd put me in this situation and then they were dumping me. I asked if I needed to see the endo doc again, or if that was it, and she said they will do one more test, a cortisal? test, but will not see me until the C Diff is completely gone. I hung up and started crying at work! I lost it. A few of my coworkers calmed me down and them I called my regular doctor, started to cry so they made me an appt to come in yesterday at 11:30. I went early and they got me right in. my blood pressure was 180/110 and they immediately did an ekg. which was normal, thank God, they gave me a lasix injection and put me back on spironolactone. Today, the edema is almost gone adn I don't feel bloated. He wouldn't let me go back to work until I see him again tomorrow. They also had me sign a release so they can get the endo dr's records. I don't know whay my result #s were, but I plan to try and get them from my regular doctor. Now i know I don't have conn's disease, but what else could be causing these symptoms. I've had every one of them on the list of symptoms. I spoke with my boss and he says that maybe my blood pressure medicine (I'm on toprol) makes me swell. He stated he has a friend who has that problem and has to wear compression stalkings daily. Could this be the case with me? Or could the cortizol cause it? The mri I had done on my left adrenal gland showed that the mass was benign and non-functioning. do I have to have any follow ups to that mri as the years go by? I'm at a loss. Since I don't have conn's, am I even welcome here anymore? slightly confused and still alittle angry, Deb
