Guest guest
Years ago when I went out on disability I had to see a doctor of their choice too. I had on a dress and he asked me to raise it, I did. He looked at my legs watched me walk and said OK; you get disability!!! He then marveled at me because I was getting up at 5:30 to get ready for work and getting my kids dropped off at school by 7:30.And I wasn't getting home until 6:30pm. He told me it was time to take it easy. OK, that worked for me.And still does Barb.
Guest guest
Bobbie, This is just part of the whole " process " towards receiving SSDI benefits. Their doctor will just do a few basic neuro tests - look at your hands and feet, maybe do some X rays. You CAN ask SSA if you can see a doctor who is familiar with neurological disorders - you can suggest a few - just can't be your own doc. They will decide if you ccan see someone else. SSA employs docs especially to help out on the medical aspects of your claim. So in answer to your question, the SSA doctor visit is a good thing as they are " in process " with your claim. Whatever you do, don't miss this doctor visit. It is crucial to your application/claim for benefits. The term for this is " consultative examination " . ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Bobbie, I think this is standard procedure. I also was tested by local doctors chosen by the SSA, and so were all the others I have talked with. I had previously filled out forms telling why I should go on disability; and I noticed those doctors were testing for many of those items I had mentioned, like losing my balance, drowsiness from my medications, difficulty getting up from chairs, etc. Don't worry about those tests--just be honest and enjoy them. --Joe
Guest guest
That is encouraging as well. I hope mine goes well. I'm a little worried and scared. I know if this doesn't go well I don't know what I'll do because I know I'm unable to work with the way my body feels. > Years ago when I went out on disability I had to see a doctor of their > choice too. Guest guest
I do hope your evaluation goes well for you. let the doctor know what you can do and REALLY emphasis what you can't.It's natural to be nervous and scared.Make sure you make the dr. aware of how fatigued you get. Good luck.when is your appt? Barb
